Assalamu alaikum,
In light of the declaration last week from the office of the Governor and in coordination with the Illinois State Board of Education, the CPSA board and administration are pleased to formally announce our intention to resume in-person teaching for the 2020-2021 school year insha’Allah, with full preparedness to switch to online learning if necessary.
While the COVID-19 situation remains extremely fluid and concerns of a significant “second wave” that may affect this decision cannot be ruled out, we recognize the vital role that a school plays in the community and in your family’s plans and arrangements for this fall.
Our administration and staff have been making preparations to ensure the safety of our students and their families when in-person teaching resumes and we will be making major changes to some aspects of the school, including the following:
• class schedules and drop-off/pick-up procedures,
• typical daily routines to minimize gatherings,
• reducing physical contact and increasing distancing,
• increased cleaning procedures
• reducing the risks of contagion and spread at our school and in our community.
At the same time, CPSA will continue developing its plans for an overhauled remote learning program based off of feedback from parents, teachers and our own internal assessments of online teaching. We will be focusing on increased structure, better consistency, more coherent and centralized communication and a unified learning platform. We are already piloting this with our summer Math and English programs with great success, alhamdulillah.
While we are proceeding under the assumption that school will re-open for in-person learning across all grade levels and making arrangements accordingly, our goal is for students and faculty to insha’Allah be fully prepared for a transition to online learning should the need arise. The plan will ensure minimal disruption to our students’ learning and development. Students that are self-quarantining, at high risk, or otherwise uncomfortable with resuming in-person learning are fully accounted for in our plans and will have access to an alternative learning experience via live streaming.
The safety and success of our students, parents, teachers, and community at large are of paramount importance to us all at CPSA and you can rest assured knowing that we have been working tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome under all scenarios. Our currents plans are based off of guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education. Insha’Allah, we will keep you apprised as our plans develop and reify, and also let you know should any developments arise that affect our decision to re-open. Until then, we are extremely eager to welcome you back in-person this fall.
