The CPSA National Honors Society students are sponsoring Route 53! (For those that aren’t in the know, CPSA lies right off of Route 53 in Lombard.)
Masha’Allah, the NHS students have agreed to sponsor the cleanup and removal of litter for a two-mile stretch on Rt. 53 as participants in Illinois’ statewide “Adopt-a-Highway” program, which lets groups commit to volunteering to remove litter and keep our streets clean. This keep-the-earth-clean green campaign is a testament to the love our students have for our neighborhood and the environment.
To participate, each volunteer group applies for a two-mile section of highway, which they select from an interactive map within the application. Once approved, volunteer groups agree to remove litter from the assigned section of highway at least four times each year for a two-year period and agree to complete an Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up Report after each clean-up day. In return, IDOT will install roadside signs identifying the volunteer group as an Illinois Adopt-A-Highway participant. IDOT provides safety vests and trash bags to Adopt-A-Highway volunteers and removes the bags from the roadside.

As we all know, cleanliness is one of the most important tenants affecting the daily life of a Muslim and numerous ahadeeth recount the importance of personal and environmental hygiene. May Allah SWT reward these students for undertaking this worthy project!
